Pre-filters are designed to take the low frequency waves (associated with form) out of the evaluation so that outlier elimination can do a better job of recognizing outliers. But after taking a 2nd look at what you wrote, I am now thinking that you meant that 10 is not on the dropdown list but you can type 10.... Actually that URP had me scratching my head. Even now in the new version of the CB that Outlier is still misspelled. Fixed one but not the other Thanks all. [Ri...] Posted September 7, 2018 Share Posted September 7, 2018 The Pre-filter for Outlier Elimination function was explained to me in Germany some years ago at a seminar. If you go to the Online help and click on the Search tab then type "outlier mode", click on list topics, then from the list, the third item down will be Outlier Mode. Click on that and now on the right you can scroll down until you see a selection for Prefilter. Here's the text for that Super helpful. The explanation I received was only a little more detailed but it got the point across. Pre-filtering for outlier elimination is necessary when measuring parts that have extraordinarily bad surface finish and/or form. Castings, forgings, stampings, sheet metal, and the like. It eliminates outliers prior to the features evaluation when the regular Outlier Elimination function does it's thing. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
[Ri...] Posted September 7, 2018 Share Posted September 7, 2018 UPR and Wavelength are doing essentially the same thing. They are establishing the length within 7 points of data minimum must be present. A 100 mm circle with a UPR of 50 means the circle is chopped up into 50 pieces and each one of those pieces needs 7 points of data. So, right from the get go, you will need 350 points for that circle to get filtering to work. Now, throw in the outlier elimination that the controller does initially, then the outlier elimination you set up in the feature evaluation, depending on how good or bad the surface finish and form might be, you will need more data. Wavelength is a distance, that's it. From 2.5 microns to 80.00 mm. 0.0025, 0.008, 0.25, 0.80 and so on. If you select 0.0025, will need to have a step width of at the very most, 0.000357 mm in order to get Filtering to work. A 100 mm diameter circle with 50 UPR is the same as a wavelength of 6.283 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
