[To...]
I'd like to hear everyone's opinion on how to interpret DRF ABC on the attached drawing. What does Datum A control? What does Datum B control? What does Datum C control? My guess is the engineer might be expecting something else. . .
[Za...]
Datum A - 2 Rotation, 1 Translation - U, V & Z Datum B - 1 Rotation, 1 Translation - W & X Datum C - 1 Translation - Y 6 degrees fully constrained Spatial - Datum A Planar - Datum B X Origin - Datum B Y Origin - Datum C Z Origin - Datum A
[Ri...]
Datum A -- Plane -- Spatial and Z Datum B -- Plane -- Planar and X Datum C -- Cylinder or possibly cone -- Y
[De...]
There is no callout shown so you have to keep in mind it depends on the order of precedence in the DRF in whatever callout is given. If the callout is in A B C order then its as follows per the views in your drawing. A Controls Rotation about X Axis, Rotation aabout Y Axis, Location along Z Axis B Controls Location along X Axis, Rotation About Z Axis C Controls Location along Y Axis

[Ow...]
It's been a while since I've seen one of these. Hey, you asked for opinions.
[To...]
Thanks for everyone's replies. It was as I expected. Like I said in my OP, I'm guessing the engineer is probably expecting C to control the translation in X and Y, which means I have to reach out and ask him what he really wants.... 🙄
[Ri...]
That is what I was suspecting from the very start of this. Ask the engineer, "Do you want what you want or what you asked for?" They love that.

[No...]
Please sign in to view this quote. How can A control rotation about X and location along Z? There's nothing to constrain it in those directions. Shouldn't that be rotation about Y and Z and location along X? 😕

[To...]
I apologize for not making the sketch more clear. I was in a hurry to get it posted. Andreas, why the addition of D?

[To...]
I think good drawing practices would have used a leader pointing directly at the radius and the dimension would show R.XXX. I would agree that I've seen diameters called out like this but never a radius.
