Rectangle Measurement

I have only been using Calypso for about 2 months and have only had the basic class.

The issue I am having is when I create a rectangle on my current part and program, I am getting an error message "one side of the rectangle is smaller than 0". I am using the default settings for the rectangle the software gets when I click on the CAD model. Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Hi Tommy,

I've never really used rectangle before, but trying it now, didn't seem to have a problem. Do you have a picture of your feature by chance?

Hmm not sure then, when I selected 1 side of my rectangle it defined just fine. Someone else might know, but is there a callout for it or could you construct it a different way perhaps?

What is your dimension can you create the feature from the individual planes/lines, that's the best I can think of, as I am unable to recreate the error. Someone else will know however.

Hey Tommie, I can tell you what I normally do. It may not be what you want depending on what you're needing to report for these rectangles. Set your model to 'wire-frame', go to CAD, zoom in on your rectangle, hold the Ctrl key and click on the 8 straight edges (4 at one face and 4 on the other) that make up that rectangle. Then click on the 'rectangle' button. That will give you the feature midway through the material. I believe you can change that if you don't want it located at that 'height'. You may have to adjust the length of the created rectangle edges depending on your stylus size. Good luck.

You could, or also try Ron's suggestion. You won't get the defined edges inside the corners obviously (I.E if the cutting tool is worn at the corners) if it's not critical, but you can also try creating it with planes, or 2d lines and recall it into 1 complete rectangle also.
