Characteristic Output

Hey everyone,

Is there a way to filter or select what part of the characteristic actually gets imported into our custom PiWeb report? (ex.) For true positions, the basic dimensions also get uploaded. We only want the tolerance to get imported because our basic dimensions already have their own "bubble" dimensions. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank You

Yes, that was one of the first things I looked into. Even if I have the additional printout turned off, the basic dimension still shows up but leaves the result column empty.

The only way I can get my basic dimensions to show up is if I have additional printout turned on. When I turn that off, they go away. Are you using Standard Protocol?

No, we are not using standard protocol. We just got SBS and are trying to work out all the small issues on our custom report.

Thanks for the clarification. Here is a suggestion:

In Designer, you may want to turn on this particular characteristic filter. My guess is, you had Additional Printout turned on at one point so the characteristic was generated and pushed to Planner. So although these X and Y characteristics exist now, with Additional Printout turned off there is no result being pushed to them any longer. (I'm speculating here without being able to see what you're working on...)

Please try the following:

Select your characteristic table. Go to the filter icon in the bottom corner of your Data Provider tab.

Turn on the 'Only Characteristics with Measured Data' filter. Close the dialog and save your report.

Let me know if this works for you.

Laura, I am thinking he only wants to output certain parts of the true position, like the X and Y and not the True Position Result

My interpretation was that the basic dims were showing up as line items without results. Which is fine, because he already has the basic dims as characteristics already.

Guess we will find out. 🙂

Thank you for the help Laura! I'm still trying to get the template to work right but I think the filter is putting me in the right direction. I think right now it is an issue of the filter not being applied to the entire table. No results show up, but it leaves blank rows where the results would be.

Ok Laura, you win...LOL

I saw a similar issue from someone who was trying to re-arrange the columns in their template. They deleted a field and when they tried to re-create it, the actuals would not appear. We tried everything but just could not get it to re-connect to the data. End result, they started over.

Harrison, if you want to DM me I can try and help you. I would need your .ptx and if you go in Planner to Help > Save configuration and send the QDB also. Although if you just received SBS you should be on an SMA and Zeiss directly would be able to remote in to you and see what the issue is. Either way, if you need further help I'm here with any questions you may have.
