Firewall Blocking Messages?

Does anybody know about the firewall blocking messages displayed for vwnt.exe and acis.exe after a fresh Calypso install or update? If I cancel those messages (because I'm too lazy to call an admin to unblock), will it do any harm to the usability of Calypso? Or are the processes just trying to 'phone home'? I'm asking because the messages are mentioned nowhere in the install docs.

I disable the firewall in principle for a new installation!
Have often enough problems when she is active.
I was also recommended by a supporter to do this!

I can't do that because all our PCs are administrated by the central IT department. Every new PC is installed with a standard image. Meddling with the firewall is absolutely forbidden. I never noticed any problems when I cancelled the warnings, but you never know.
