Calibration Time

Hi All,
If we cleaned and calibrated stylus systems at the end of our daily shift, shut the CMM down, are the stylus systems good to go when we start back up the next day, or do they need to be calibrated again? What we are looking at doing, is qualify one CMM at shifts end, and the other CMM the next morning.
Thank you for the feedback!!!!

Hello Larry,

your probe data is retained
I calibrate all my probes 3 times a week.
However, I never turn off the CMM completely, but only the motors and PC

The answer depends on your environmental conditions. If you have constant temperature at your CMM, I see no reason why you should need to recalibrate the next day.

Larry,

I agree with Norbert. If you switch off after calibration (for whatever reason), the values are still OK.
We clean & calibrate at about the same time every morning, then we always have 24 hours in between. Our machines are used in three shifts.
