[Da...]
I am new to the Zeiss Calypso world and I was wondering if anyone could help me. I tried to load a Cad file from solid works 2017 and Calypso 2017 did not seem to recognize the file.
[Ro...]
As far as i know you cannot load SLDPRT files into calypso. Where i'm at the only files i can load are ACIS, SAT, SAB, STEP, STP, & DXF. I personally only use Step files, and a hand full of Sat's I seem to remember at my last shop we could load many more cad types, so there may be an upgrade available if you need a certain type of cad file loaded without converting. The 1 thing i do not like, it seems like an unnecessary step to me, is when you click on Caf>file>load the default is Acis. so if you have another type you need to select the type of file in the lower right hand drop down menu. I wish the default was "All Files", then any type of cad model it recognises would be visible.cad load1.JPG
[No...]
Calypso does support Solidworks, but as usual it's an option. The CAD versions supported are listed in the release notes. Roberto, the problem with "All Files" is that some CAD files have identical suffixes. For example the *.prt suffix is used by NX and Pro/Engineer files. If you don't tell Calypso which file type to look for, loading may fail. We have NX and if I try to load a *.prt model with the "All Files" setting, it doesn't work. [Da...]
Thanks for your response. I really appreciate it. I did not know that solid works could produce step files and sat files. I have it now.
[Ro...]
If you are using a 5.X version of calypso, you can load STEP files, but you must manually shorten the extension to "STP". I had to do this for years until i upgraded to Calypso 2016, which i believe is 6.2.
[Ri...]
If you go to "?" on the top tool bar and select Release Notes, you can go to Chapter 6, page 6-9 and see all the CAD Packages and versions that are able to work with Calypso. If you then go to Extras\Settings\Miscellaneous you will see all your options you've purchased.CAD Compatibility.GIF
[To...]
Please sign in to view this quote. When saving to a step file from SolidWorks, you can also just re-name the file to .stp when doing a "save as".
