We have 3 Contura's with same RDS head and stylus setup, my question is if a same program can be run on multiple CMM's at the same time?
6.4 version

Thanks

I think you're asking for trouble if you want multiple softwares are accessing the same files. I have offline and CMM seats, and things can go a little sideways if I have a program running, and I open the same program from my offline seat.

I agree with only running the program on one machine at a time. Maybe if you have Master Control Center you can do something like that. The alternative is to have a copy of the program locally on each machine and then you can run at the same time.

I agree with the warnings of others. This isn't right for everyone, but it can be done and is useful in certain circumstances.

You can save your programs on a network while saving actual values locally. Just go into Extras > Settings > Environment. Set the "default path for measurement plans" to your network location and the "fixed directory for actual values" to someplace on the local hard drive.

We run this way in one of our lines where three identical duramaxes run the same set of programs. The user permissions are set so that the operators cannot make or save any changes to the programs. Been running smoothly for a few years now.

If a user on one machine can make and save changes to a program while another machine has the same program open you may run into trouble. You can also run into difficulty if your network isn't stable.

This is possible but you will some sort of front end interface to help. What you will have to do is create a menu with the program selections and when you pick a program, that program will be copied to the local HD of the CMM then started. At the completion of the program it will be deleted from the local HD. This setup will enable you to run the same program on multiple machines at the same time and still only have one program to administrate.
