It seems to happen when using PiWeb in another program. I have to shut down the other program and restart. Sound familiar or is it just me?? [Ow...] Posted June 6, 2018 Share Posted June 6, 2018 Kevin, I'd say it depends on what type of gears, standards and tolerances you make. If they all have AGMA or other gear standards, then Gear Pro makes gear programming easy because all the standards, terminology and corresponding symbols are in it. Basically on an involute spur or helical gear, all you need to make a program is the amount of teeth, Diametral Pitch/Module, the normal pressure angle, helix angle and a few OD/ID's and it makes the program for you. If you don't check tooth profiles or you have loose tolerances, Gear pro may not be much help but, if you do, it would save you a lot of programming time. Gear pro does make pretty nice cad models with given information. However, it doesn't appear you have a scanning head on your CMM and the scanning head does make it simpler to use gear pro because you can use self centering and collect a lot more data.
