It's designed to hold the name of your stylus system to prevent the accidental mis-loading of a stylus system. I suppose you could have a defective one, but it may just need to have the id re-taught to it. Go ahead and mount the stylus system in the XXT sensor. Go into the probing system qualification window. At the upper left corner, click the icon for Stylus System Management. In the left hand side, select the stylus system that is mounted and then click the Teach ID over on the lower right side. That should do it, unless there is something wrong with the adapter plate. You can also turn the ID Chip off if you don't want to use it. What I saw was that if you had an older machine, it remained OFF after upgrading to the version that used it. And, new machines were shipped with it ON. How do I configure it where it is not used, even when the system is shut off and restarted? Every time the system is shut off and restarted, I have to manually go in and shut it off again. Then, I un-checked Activate under ID Chip Recognition. Then, I clicked APPLY. Then, OK. Shut everything down. Re-started the CMM and the checkbox was still un-checked.
