[Ry...] Posted May 15, 2018 Share Posted May 15, 2018 Hey all.. We just recently started calling out profiles on our parts that have unequal bilateral distribution. I know on a regular profile, calypso takes the furthest point from nominal and multiplies it by 2 to get a profile value. My question is how does it do it on a unequal distribution? If I was a total of 0.016" with an U of 0.003", I'd obviously be out if I was on the inside any more then 0.0015". Any help would be appreciated. [Ro...] Posted May 16, 2018 Share Posted May 16, 2018 From my understanding Calypso will find the center point of the tolerance zone and treat it like a standard bilateral from that point. In your case .016 total with .003 inside, calypso would center the zone at .005 outside and you would get .008 maximum + or -. So if you had a perfect part that measured 0.0 for the profile, the physical surface would be +.005 from the cad model surface. I.E. since the tolerance is centered at -0.005" and I'm running at 0 (or the nominal of the part) that I would then be above the tolerance center zone? Appreciate the fast responses you all have.
