Autorun big delay

Hi guys!

Do you know what can be a reason of very big delay after click on Autorun ? It's taking about 1min to show the autorun up. I have checked all pictures ( for operators informations which fixture they should use ) and none of them has a big size. Only a few hundred kb max. Have you ever had the same problem ?

I have dealt with this issue before. I found the best way to speed up the load time is have all the autorun data (pictures mostly) located on the local c drive. Having the programs in the inspection folder, and the pictures somewhere on c drive, I saw was the best solution.
Unfortunately the more programs you add the slower it will get... All you can do is keep the picture size down and keep everything on the local drive...
I am not sure what version you are using but I saw a noticeably difference when I went from 5.6 to 5.8.

Think I got 5.4 version and unfortunately I have all programs and pictures on C drive, but in my folder not in Zeiss deafult one.

check how much memory you got (ram) then tell your it guy to double or triple it.
That worked for me in long waits at the end of my programs while calypso digested all the profiles

Recently I found out the main reason for the long load times:
We have all our measurement plans on a network drive, and some weeks ago the IT guy installed new computers at all machines, and each computer got a new network name. For a couple of reasons the measurement plan folders on the network drive are named after the computer's name of the CMM they belong to. So I had to change all the paths of the autorun icons (an easy task with Notepad.exe 😉 ), but I also kept a backup of the old version with the now invalid paths.

Some time later there was a little problem with the settings of a particular icon and I tried to compare it with the same icon in the old file. The first surprise was that the old file suddenly loaded at lightspeed. The second was that I couldn't open the parameters of a single icon, because the path to the inspections file no longer existed.

Conclusion: While loading the autorun file, Calypso checks each and every inspections file and probably loads some parameters from it. This is what makes loading so incredibly slow. It has improved somewhat in newer versions, but it's still too slow. Having the plans on a local drive will certainly improve speed, but the more programs you have the slower it gets.

How long is a long load time? Ours takes about 4 minutes. It's annoying, but it's not a deal breaker. Just curious!

About the same here. But if you have to reload several times during the day, it starts to get a bit annoying. 😡 It just shouldn't be like that. That's stone age style computing.
Up until some years ago we still had ancient UMESS running parallel to Calypso and the operators had to switch between both many times a day.

In my opinion, the picture file sizes are the biggest culprit for slow load times. I typically use MS Paint to resize a picture down it's bare minimum size yet clear enough to see what it is.

As long as its on a local drive and not a network you should be good. I would look into getting 5.8 or newer they made a lot of improvements to Autorun. The major one being the load up time.

Just a thought if you would want to confirm, you could send all your ARN data to zeiss and have them load it and time it.

This I find also helps. I have 5 Programs with 1080 HD Video used for the Setups for operators. The videos are located on my local CMM Pc and not in the workarea programs folder. Auto run was slower when I initially put them in the Program folder.

Pictures and videos attached as User Information files are strictly links to those files. If you add pictures to your icons, that's when high res pictures will kill you.
