Cone Cylinder Intersection

Hi All, 

I have what I hope is a simple question. I need to measure the distance from the intersection of a cone and cylinder to the far end of the cylinder, which I measure as a plane. I have attached a simple sketch. I can provide more detail if needed.

My initial thought was to create an intersection of the cone and cylinder and report the distance from the intersection to the plane, but none of the intersection options are getting me to the intersection that I expected.

I also played around with the Cone Addition options, but I am not super familiar with Cone Additions and clicking randomly probably won't get me to the right answer.

What is the best approach for something like this?

Have you tried adding a third feature to the intersection to produce a point?

I just tried this in my planner. I measured an ID cone and an OD cone and the cylinder in-between.

Then intersect and shell each cone with the cylinder. That gives you two intersections. Then simple distance.
