Explanation please on Calibration modes- RC-CAA and Passive

It has been a minute since i have used an articulating head, Vast XXT-TL3. My question is when i reference the Master Probe the mode is RC-CAA. Is this supposed to be Passive mode? I reference Sphere and it has Fitting box instead of Qualify Stylus box. Then i click on the Fitting and run the Master Probe for the different angles. I must be missing something or i am over thinking? Then i go to change probes to a .50x50mm and it still says RC-CAA and i qualify stylus and it fails qualification. When i use a different probe it gives me Passive for the mode. So correct me if i am wrong the only difference from RC-CAA and Passive modes is the amount of angle it qualifies?

What was the indicator that your CAA stylus system failed?  The sigma value is generally higher because you're qualifying 12 different positions.   The difference between the two types is the standard method where you create styli at specific angles, which you qualify using the Passive mode.  The RC-CAA stylus system, which is set when you create the stylus system, qualifies 12 pre-set angles, which produces about 18,000 different angles controlled by using the A and B properties.  When you go to re-qualify this one, you'll be prompted with the choice of a Full qualification or a partial.  I suggest always doing the Full.  This will do the Passive qualification first, then follow with the CAA qualification of the 12 angles.

The RC-CAA mode is showing up on most of the probes that i am trying to calibrate. I have started a new job and trying to use old programs this is happening. I can reference sphere, works. I go to put in a different probe and it says not calibrated. Im at a loss here. This is a regular probe and there is no passive Calibration? Thank you for replying Tomimage.png.7595c2b4aae59fae2d9e3de133820c7e.png

If you calibrate a RC-CAA System, the Reference sphere has to be at Pos4 (Tilt 135 Rotate 315). Then he calibrates 12 different positions and you can use all Positions with Stylus No. 1.

Thank you for the response. I realized that the Master Probe for reference only for the sphere. I seen the fitting position and was thinking that i needed to also do that. When i referenced Master probe and then went in and started to calibrate my other probes it worked out. Well, it worked hopefully i wont have any other issues fingers crossed.

Are your probes RCAA or List?

I see the one message recalls "Stylus with number 10". This makes me think you have a list of probes and not an RCAA for that probe.
