[Pa...]
I'm not really interested in looking at every new thing Zeiss puts out, and there's a lot of it. Can anyone tell me anything about what Connected Quality does? I don't think I want it. Need to convince the boss. Does it work? Does it require a full time person to manage and train people? Is it half as obtuse as PiWeb?
[Ma...]
Hello Pat, thank you for question. CONNECTED QUALITY helps you: manage quality data and processes (e.g., versioning of inspection plans, clearance of reports and approval of CMMs) monitor your measuring system (e.g., collision events, temperature) access raw data from your measuring system (e.g., status) You can find more information on our website: ZEISS CONNECTED QUALITY: One Metrology Hub | Insights. Productivity. If you are interested in learning more about the product, please reach out to your sales contact person, so they can arrange a demonstration for you and your team. Kind regards, Ana
[Je...]
Please sign in to view this quote. Pat, The selling factor in Connected Quality is the perception of remote managerial control. I tested the trial version of Connected Quality and did not find it to be value-added for our needs or anything more than a generic dashboard of metrics. Depending on the size of your company, a much more objectively proven tool is the Japanese concept of "Gemba" (現場), which means "the real place." Gemba speaks to the practice of management taking time to perform actual walkthroughs of the shop floor and doing so not from a place of enforcement but from humility with open eyes and ears, trying to understand the real needs of workers in helping solve problems and stay connected to the value stream. Connected Quality may also provide visual engagement from customers, for example, if your company hosts tours regularly. However, if that is a local need, I would recommend utilizing Microsoft Power BI or Excel dashboards. They will offer a higher level of customization at a lower cost. I am a strong believer in using technology and automation to centralize data. From that standpoint, I commend Zeiss for trying here. The solution, however, feels unpolished and appears to have lacked broad input from stakeholder voices during its development. And yes, it smells a bit like PiWeb.
