[To...]
I am looking at a part that is using 8 datum targets. 3 for the spatial and z origin, 4 (2 points on 2 parallel planes) for the planar and x origin and 1 for the Y origin. The RPS 321 will only allow 6 datum targets. However, the RPS freeform has no limit. Is this a valid method?
[Ma...]
Well if datum features can be defined as planes/circles, then you don't need RPS. If those points are all over place ( you can not define 3 points as plane for example ) then you need RPS. I would avoid using RPS as base alignment. But if you need one because of loop aid, then use start alignment from basic features to help. Here is probably used for planar symmetry - so 4 points instead of 2. I have a little practise with RPS, so i can not tell how to set up checkboxes, but FF is allright.
