Finally made it into the new forum, and I have a super easy question about disk probes

New job has an XXT rotating head.

There is a couple disk probes in the rack, but the previous programmer never set them up. When I tried to set them up, there's no options to create anything but a spherical styli. Disk and cylinder are not an option.

So what gives? What do I need to make a disk probe work?

I have one styli from steel, which is actualy part of a sphere, it's not short cylinder. All i could do was doing manual path to qualify that.

I can not find any specifications for that - it's only a disc where i put shaft on it. And that disc comes with two oposing ruby half-spheres ( top and bottom, perhaps for thickness or what )

My last CMM was a vast XTR (which by the way is my favorite CMM head I have ever worked with) and I had the option of sphere, disk, and cylinder. I also had the option of a manual qualification on my disk so I can take manual points and the CMM would repeat those points for qualification. It was a good system, I don't know why the XXT doesn't give me the same options.

I believe the issue comes down to the deflection methodology for qualifying styli on an XXT sensor.  I'm guessing it didn't meet the high standards of the Zeiss name.

Take this for what it's worth... here is Zeiss's answer on this topic. Just noticed it on the shop page the other day. You might have to scroll through a few to find it, but there is one specifically about Discs on XXT.

And copying their PDF which should be okay since it was free knowledge...
