Any talk about adding a torus feature?

I see some evidence of a torus feature behind the scenes long ago.  This would be an incredibly valuable feature for turned parts.

Thanks for great software all! As we improve we are capturing hard to get internal features and helping our company out.

OH....BOY!!!! WHAT version of the software, I'm on 2021 and didn't have it and I don't see it in 2023. My trial for 2025 is up. I'll install a trial on my co-workers computer and test this feature out.

Does it give some sort of centroid? or simulated axis? i would expect to see a centroid and not an axis. Also, is it averaging the radius of a turned shoulder much like a cylinder is doing?  This feature will save me a lot of time....I assume it is 2025 only?

Tim, I am still on Calypso 2021 Service Pack 1 and I do see the Torus option under features and special geometries, for me it is the 4th option down below rectangle and has a donut like icon.

I haven't had an excuse to use it yet but I am seeing it is available there though so hopefully you can play around with it.

I know for a fact, that the torus feature was available in version 5.6 and maybe even in earlier versions.

Hi,

in ZEISS Inspect there is no torus available. Could you give me a short explanation of the application for a torus please? I will forward the wish to the development.

There is also an older thread by a certain Tim Jones with answers from our developers 😉

Most support cases with tori were solved with a multisection radial.
