Formulas for patterning lasso box?

Howdy, Was wondering if there is a way to pattern a lasso box around a cylinder? or would this be more of a point range selection when recalling points. Not sure if this is possible or nt

Thanks! -Max

If I’m understanding this right you want to lasso points to create another feature? If so, it is possible. In the new feature select Recall Feature Points and select the cylinder. Now look up to the middle right of the icon bar and you will see two new icons. One will display the points and the other will allow you to lasso which points you want.

I have added a very poorly drawn picture of what i'm trying to explain.  So the part is drawn in black, the red is the lasso box i want to pattern , and the blue is the theoretical circle im trying to create. Now there are about 30 of these lasso boxes id have to create and i was wondering if it was possible to just draw one lasso box then pattern it onto the other remaining sections to retrieve data from those points. I am doing a profile scan of the whole part so im deriving the points from the scan.

Yes, you can draw one box.
You can also right click on the feature and select Add Point Range and input the number of the range of points. (Right click in the CAD window and select Show Point Numbers).

Either way you can control any wayward points. Watch this video to understand how

This doesn't quite fall into what i was looking for. This isn't ideal when you are trying to derive points to create a circle. The video above helps with High form value.

I'm trying to get a radius value by recalling feature points from a 2D curve using the lasso tool on multiple teeth along a circular part. I want to know if its possible to do a circular pattern for a lasso box so i don't have to create 30 separate lasso boxes

I would create one feature, curve, FFS, whatever, and measure just the box area you are interested in and pattern that...with a rotation/circular pattern, etc.

This doesn't work either, unless im doing something wrong, The lasso box has a fixed origin that doesn't translate to with a pattern.

Scan the data however you need which the feature that makes sense.

Create a duplicate feature, Recall Feature Points the area you want with a box, probably slightly bigger than you need. On that feature, apply the appropriate pattern, in my case 3x 120 degrees.

The RFP box will move with the pattern, now you will have multiple RFP features... 3 planes in my example.

Then, you can RFP again on the patterned feature, this will recall them into a single feature you can use for evaluations. Watch the filter and outlier settings, you may find you have to setup the outlier as if it's a line/plane not a circle for it to execute.

I'm scanning this entire face for some evaluations, but I wanted to separate just the outer portions for specific measurements, without rescanning.

Report something like roundness from the feature with the pattern, you should get 11 Roundness characteristics each with a different result when you view the report... might have to increase the decimal count.
