Editing the Header on Report 2024 version of Calypso

I would like to have the header on the report match the order dialog. I found a document out on the forum that shows how to customize reports, but it's meant for older versions of Calypso. I could not find anything that's updated to the latest version of 2024. Is there anyone that can help with this issue? Thank you much!

open the "Measurement plan" tab in the top left of Calypso, click the "Multiple report" button, and there should be 2 drop-down boxes near the bottom on the middle under the settings section, the second labelled "Output order" which you should be able to select "Like program" in.

screenshot attached in case it helps.

err - sorry, you totally said header.

on that Multiple Report pop-up, click the pen icon just above where i circled the "Output Order", that will open the PiWeb report editor where you can rearrange everything to your heart's content.

if you haven't already made a custom report template, it will prompt you to save one as either a Generic or Measurement plan specific; if you plan to use it for other measurement plans, save it as a generic to easily access it from other plans.

That's awesome Jack! Thanks for following up. Having experience with the older versions, I was accustomed to changing the headers from time to time, but the PI Web wasn't available with some of the older versions. I thought with the newer version there would be some easier way to do this, and you have proven that with your summary above. To your reference, I take it's self explanatory once you have the templates open and that's great. Appreciate you taking the time with the layout above. It definitely makes it easier...

I had to come back online to take it a step further. So far, I can open how you have it displayed above, however, when I rename these titles of what I need in the header, and also rearrange the locations within the header, they don't want to carry over at the end of the Run. Or, I should say, when the program is done, the printout is not like I titled for example.

ah - so once you have rearranged your headers & saved the template, you'll have to switch the Measurement plan to output as that template.

just to the left of the pen icon that opens the editor, click the 3 dots to open up the template browser & then switch to the Generic template tab (or measurement plan specific if you picked that one) & then select your newly saved template!

To put it mildly Jack, I will need to start from scratch. I lost my original or I cannot find it. Nevertheless, I have the Report sections of the header the way I want it from the Run window, and with that said I can enter the necessary information, but what comes out at the end of the run resembles something I entered a week ago. Things are discom bobbled. I went on the thought that it would be for the most part a no brainer, but there's more than the eye can see. You're screen dumps help a lot...any help here would be much appreciated.

Go to the question mark (?) menu on the far right... then click user guide..

In the search box, type "Reference: Printout header data"

Read this to start to understand how it all works together.

There is the name of the Field, how it is identified in CALYPSO, and then how it is identified in PiWeb.

So if you wanted "Operator" in your header, in CALYPSO that would be "operid" and to make it show up in PiWeb you would need "Measurement - K0008".

There are ways to customize things by editing .ini files but for now, start with this reading.

Sorry DWC, but thanks! I have the latest version 2024 7.8.08 and the pull down doesn't indicate 'User Guide'. I can use the same Reference: Printout Header Data callout from the 'Operator Instructions' which is part of my pulldown; this being the closest thing to your 'User Guide' as you indicated. However, my screen is altogether different when I do this, and it actually takes me to a place that looks like I want to change to some type of format outside of the usual. And in this case, it's 'unusual'. Sorry, but there's something different going on with the 2024 version. I don't know if anyone can look deeper into this subject, but that's where I am at this time - more or less twiddling my thumbs on this one.

Oh, for sure, that was the number one first thing I did when this issue came about. I wasn't on here and didn't think I needed to bother anyone with it. I was wrong, so to answer plainly, I have done than also with no luck.

DWC/Jack, thanks for the help, but I'm still not there. What you see above at the top is what I would like to have as my report header. I somehow managed to change that when I needed but it doesn't carry over. Meaning, what you see below the top, is the actual header of the printout report. I've been trying to explain the best of what's going on, but to no avail. So, I put together a layout above showing firsthand of what's going on. I would like to get this straightened out if I can. What you see above is the end result. Hopefully, this can help to get things taken care of. When I mentioned earlier to Jack about starting from scratch, this is what I meant. And to make it even more precise, I do not need ½ of what you see in the bottom view or header. Appreciate if you can find out anything...thanks again!

Brian you have to edit template to be able to show that info.

Post screenshot with edited value for that header.
If you don't know what to write there, then open window with button "Select report header parameters" ( 2nd post ) and move mouse pointer to right side of that row - i think there is question mark - then it will show bubble with hint.

Thanks Martin, but you need to go back and read the whole thread. I put a ticket in for this and I was let down since I haven't heard from anyone for two days.

I've read whole thread, but i have still difficulties with understanding what you have done so far, how and what you want to achieve.

If you want to add some new field into PiWeb then you have to follow these steps:

  1. Open user field editor and setup new field with name and caption
  2. Open needed PiWeb template like was mentioned in this thread ( by clicking "pencil" icon )
  3. Edit main page and secondary page for that new field
  4. Save template - if you choose generic one, then it won't let you save that to base folder - then navigate to PiWeb template folder inside c:\users\public\zeiss calypso ...
  5. Use new template by selecting it from list - if you can not find new template, then switch tabs
  6. Set new field into selected printout header parameters

I am not able to remember from head how was exactly that text, but older versions were using "u_field" name ( so "u_" was mandatory i think ).
There was even option to set that u_field as K number to be able to pass that into QDAS

If you want to resolve your problem quickly then post all steps you have done and how. Those edits on template are simple, but with many steps.

Thanks Martin, appreciate the steps you wrote down. However, it really is better said than done, especially in this case. What you have wrote has for the most part been done. If I can be a little more specific, the header you see in the very first screen dump shot is what I have in place with a certain program. In other words, for example: if this program were closed for days, I can open the program and enter what I need into the 'Input Parameter' template you see. And that's exactly what I want to see out on the report header when the program is done running. However, nothing is carried over except the possibility of the number you see in the space marked 'Drawing No.'. I set something correct because the 'Input Parameter' dialog is correct. That must be locked in within the 'Measurement Specific' tab from the pencil icon as you put it - Jack uses pen as a symbol for the icon. With that said, I started to make changes by opening this pen tab following some direction that were made out early in the thread. Something either got missed or added by mistake and it saved to the program. This is going back to me mentioning - "I need to start from scratch". That meaning of creating a whole new template that I can use at any given time, and pretty much using the steps you had laid out. But on that point, I can tell you the 'u-field', the 'K' number etc. is something I remember doing in the past, but has gone far and away out of mind, because that's what I was dealt when it came to the older versions, before PiWeb. Sorry to say, but PiWeb was not a welcomed addition to the software at the time. Going forward, and I mean very recent, I forget who it is - they put together a file for customizing reports for versions '5.0' and '5.4'. It is nicely done. That said, why not put together something for version 2024 7.8.08...?? Thanks for the step layout also nicely done. Hope this helps out more to anyone's advantage.
