[Da...]
I've noticed 2 different problems lately, the first may or may not be a Calypso issue, but the second only affects Calypso. Here's the setup I have: Calypso 2024 Spectrum III machine VAST XXT stylus system HP Z4 tower CPU w/ZEON (provided by Zeiss) Logi wireless keyboard and mouse Issue #1: Periodically, my mouse and keyboard will stop working for 5-10 seconds at a time. If I'm typing at the time, not all (but some) of the characters get entered. It may still be 'jerky' for a few seconds before and/or after. I am connected to out internal system, but am not connected to the "FortiClient" that creates something like this (but not as bad..) in my general inspection desk CPU (I do not program the CMM full-time). However, I do log into the ZEISS CMM with the same login account and password, usually while that account is also open. Issue#2: Periodically, after one of these #1 issues happen, my mouse control is regained, but I can no longer click (right or left) on anything in Calypso. I cant open a feature, edit a feature, scroll with the scroll wheel, open anything in a pulldown, or even close out the window. I CAN, however, go to the Windows taskbar, right-click on the Calypso tab, and close the program from there. If I re-open it without 'terminating', the issue will remain. I have to close the program and 'terminate' it, then re-start it each time. Then it works fine...for a while. Rinse and repeat about every hour or so. A note; I was working on a longer program than I had done before, and I had a lot of features/characteristics that needed re-naming, so maybe it was just the shear amount of editing I was doing? I've been trying to save every minute or 2 manually to hopefully work around this issue. At least once, though, that did not work. Any ideas? I'll probably call my company IT if I can't find a solution, but those guys take forever to solve our issues (they are 2 states away, FWIW..) [DW...]
If you Ctrl Alt Del during these events, whats the CPU usage look like? Is there another process running in the background bogging down the resources?
[Da...]
Well, nothing much to report, except "services and controller application" usage is high.
[Wo...]
Might be a stupid idea but maybe switch to a wired keyboard and mouse for a couple of days. My logi combo was acting up lately during typing too so there might be something there. At least might eliminate one possible reason.
[Da...]
Please sign in to view this quote. I've considered it, and went through a similar thing on my non-CMM desktop a while back (albeit not as severe..) and changing back to wired did nothing. On that one, it sees the FortiClient was causing the issues 3 or 4 times a day. The CMM doesn't have FortiClient (at least I can't find it..), so I doubt that will cure the first issue. as to the second issue, the mouse and keyboard work just fine anywhere BUT in Calypso when this happens. And it only started happening when I was better than 50% through this program with 40 different diameters measured in 4 different stylus directions. I also used a lot of the paintbrush. I'm thinking that maybe there is a limit of how much editing you can keep in temporary storage? Regardless, next program I'll try going wired for a day or 2, as much as I hate wires across my working surface. Unfortunately, I've finished the program, and who knows when the next one will be? My primary duties are creating AS9102 FAI's for source inspection, with receiving inspection, electrical testing with hipot and LCR meters, and checking certs for compliance. I'd love to program full-time, but it's only sporadic for me.
[Vo...]
Bitte deinstallieren Sie den NVIDIA-Desktop Manager, dann sollte wieder alles normal sein!!!
[Jo...]
David, Do these issues only happen while you are using Calypso? Or not? Calypso still does have bugs/issues that are not resolved even with patches due to wide variety of usage, so not all issues are resolved. I have work-around steps/processes to avoid some issues that's not patched-up. It just depends on the Version you use. I can say for sure that lock-Up is the worse issue we face. Nothing you can do when 50%+ program worked on are lost. Yes, potential Nvidia's drivers could affect how Calypso runs as well as how well it communicates and processes on a MS-Windows system. IT can help as long as it's not involving Calypso, hopefully your IT is experienced how Calypso behaves under MS-Windows.
