T-Scan Hawk 2 Accuracy and repeatability

Hello all,

This is an issue I am having that I am not seeing much info on, so it may just be circumstantial. I am using GOM inspect 2023 on T-scan, and attempting to perform repeatability run on the program. For measuring principles I am doing Intersection with mesh on surface points unless they are close to edge, in which I am using edge point direction. For holes and slots, I am seeing best repeatability with projected offset. For edge points its just edge point principle. I am not seeing very repeatable results when i introduce 10 meshes in to program as "stages" and use inspection tab "statistics overview" with ranges being as high as .18mm. I perform calibration every 4 hours. I am not sure how the T-scan is accurate to ". 0.02mm + 0.015mm/m(2)" if the calibration deviation itself is 24-27um. These parts have been roughly 4 ft long so maybe photogrammetry is required? Datum A across 3 parts is surface points, followed by 4way hole, and 2way slot. the parts are typically 2-3mm thick.

You would be amazed if you looked at your scanned reference targets dimensions in the same light you are looking at your mesh data.  Being this is still a manual tool many factors come into play such as your range, angle, and just normal fatigue of holding the scanner from part to part.  If capturing your reference targets do not repeat your dimensional results would follow along for the ride.  Implementing photogrammetry would be beneficial for more repeatable results when measuring this type of volume.
