[Sh...]
Hi, I normally use stylii with a DK of 1.00mm and above but I have a job coming up where I will require a DK of 0.5mm . I currently use a 25mm reference sphere. My question is will this reference sphere suffice or do i require a smaller sphere for a stylus this small, thanks in advance for any suggestions
[To...]
It depends on the MLE of this stylus. If it's 2.5mm, you'll probably need a smaller reference sphere. I'm not exactly sure where the cutoff is. I feel like anything above 5mm will be no problem. I was able to qualify most 0.5 probes with my 25mm ref sphere. I also noticed on one brand, not Zeiss, that there was a square shoulder between the ML and MLE, which cause the stylus to shank out. Most styli have a taper between the 2 shanks which gave the necessary clearance.
[DW...]
Please sign in to view this quote. You need the 8mm sphere for 1mm and smaller styli to qualify 180° of the probe.
