Questions About Find & Replace in Calypso

I love the find & replace functions in Calypso.

I was wondering:  Does Calypso support regular expressions or wildcards or something similar for the Find & Replace function?

For example:

1. Is there a way for me to select all of the Odd numbered features in group of features by using Find & Replace?

2. Is there a way for me to replace all text before or after other text in a feature name, for example, all of the numbers after the word "Point" in this feature list:

I don't know about number 1, but number 2 is a yes. 

You can just select those features/characteristics, tell it to Find "Point", and then Replace with say "Dim 1 - Points - ". It will only replace the Point portion of the string.

Hey Richard.  Thanks for the suggestion.

To clarify, what I mean is, how do I get it to replace the numbers with something else, regardless of what the numbers are.  For example, keep the word "Point" in the name but replace all of the other text/string regardless of what the other text or numbers are.

Oh. You're wanting to do the inverse of what I wanted to do. haha. I haven't tested attempting to do something like that, and I'm honestly not certain if that is possible.

Calypso Find/Replace cannot discern between upper and lower case.

Example, if you want to change "a" to "A", it does nothing.

I don't think you can do either of those unfortunately. Editing your default names might help you reduce the need? I've edited all of mine shorter and put a space before the number.

 

I just want the Replace All function to only act in "All Selected" like Excel not the entire program.... lol

Well damn. I just tried it in my own software and it worked too...

I swear I've had issues with this....

 

EDIT: Do it on the Characteristic side! It doesn't work, at least in 2018. If you have a selection, and hit replace all. It only replaces the first one, deselects, then if you hit replace all again, it does everything in the entire program.

But I guess knowing it works on the feature side at least helps.

I was hoping you were going to reply that this had been fixed in the newer software lol. I'm angling to get us a site wide upgrade and this was on my list of hopes.

It's glitchy / unstable.  I've had the same problem as you, Mike, regarding "replace only selected" versus "replace all in the entire measurement plan"
