[Pa...]
Management wants to change the reporting template we use. I've got the new template built and I'm happy with it. I know how to use the template in an existing or new measurement plan. Problem is I manage literally tens of thousands of programs. Is there an easy button here? Currently it looks like I need to paste my new template into thousands of measurement plan directories and then open each program and select the new template. Can I point all plans to one server-located file? Is there some way to override the multiple report routing so it can look somewhere other than the measurement plan folder? [Ma...]
I am not sure if it can be done by your IT rules, but teoreticaly you can make symlink like this mklink "C:\users\me\textfileshortcut.txt" "C:\users\me\textfile.txt" But on win10 you will probably need administrator rights and it will work on local - not so sure for network one. Or you will need to manually change programs - or if it can be done just by changing one value in inspset file, then it could be done by replacing text in files ( Notepad++ can do that )
[Da...]
For those of us who have IT management on a different continent and are obsessively concerned with limiting administrator rights, that would not be an option. Well, maybe with an IT request, and waiting for 2-3 weeks for an answer, then scheduling IT to do the changes.....
[To...]
If all of your old programs are using StandardProtocol.ptx, this should be fairly easy. Rename your template to StandardProtocol.ptx. Do a Ctrl-C. Ctrl-V of your template to create a file StandardProtocol - Copy.ptx Copy and paste or move these to files to the folder shown below. Depending on your install, it may be Program Files(x86) or Program Files. This will overwrite your Default StandardProtocol.ptx. In the future, when you upgrade, the install program will overwrite your template with an original file, thus loosing your template. That's what the backup copy is for.
