Paths - Excel report

As I play with various settings here, it looks like GeoActuals and Excel outputs are both "result files" when I look at Extras/Settings/Environment/Paths.  I must keep GeoActuals in a folder local to the CMM because we occasionally run the same program on more than one CMM simultaneously.  Boss wants Excel outputs out on the network where anyone can grab them.

I do use Resources/Results to File and Resources/Name for output files to manage measured points and PDF reporting.  In these windows there are a bunch of options for file types; none of them is "Excel" or "GeoActuals".

While it is always cool and fun to figure out how many different names Zeiss and Calypso can come up with for one thing, I'm not enjoying it today.

Can anyone give me an easy button here?  I want excels to go down one path and the GeoActuals down another.  Which five windows do I need to click through in what order?

Resources>DefineReport>DefaultReport/WarningLimit

Click the folder icon to the right of Excel Report, and select the one called "Characteristics.xlt"

Then go to Plan>Preassign CNC Start Values

Check the box that says Excel-Report

Best of luck sir.

Thanks.  I have all of this.  I am generating the Excel properly.

What I have clearly asked is how to get GeoActuals and Excel reports to go to different places.

See the screenshot.  I want these .xls files in one network folder and all of the .txt files in a local folder.  My internal customers need unrestricted access to the .xls while all of the .txt files must be on a local drive so I can run the program in multiple machines.

I don't believe there is a way in Calypso to send the "real" excel spreadsheet to a different location.  Maybe in PiWeb?

You will hear things like, export table files and set the name for output files of the characteristics table file to have an .xls file ending but that is only a formatted text file that opens in excel.  In other words, the 2nd file in your list would be the same exact file except it would end with .xls

Do you have PCM? If so, I can get you there part of the way.

You can sent variable data in the form of a .csv file to a seperate location. It won't be the same format as the Zeiss characteristic spreadsheet.

I don't know what the pressettings for this would be. You'd have to get additional help from a PCM expert to add some minor details.

Postsettings:

/Dims to Excel
filePath = "M:\Measurement Equipment Results\Zeiss Calypso\O-inspect\"+OD+"\"
ext = ".csv"

Unfortunately the only way to move the Excel report from the default results location is through either a batch file or a PCM file that will move it after the creation. If you do have PCM, this article in our knowledge base should help, but if you are familiar with coding, it should also help you if you need to make a batch file.

Incidentally, you can change the location of the geoactuals separately. That would be under extras>settings>environment in the paths window. You want to set the Actual files to be always be in the fixed directory (which is on your C drive).

Note the image above is grayed out because I was in a program when I made the screenshot.

I hope you find this useful.

 When will be removed location restriction from Academy? It's pointless to edit profile just to see content.

 Hint: just set your location on profile to USA

Sorry, I must have been reading too quickly. Yes it is possible to automatically move file types in a folder to a different location post run. You will need to teach yourself how to script in an appropriate language to accomplish this task. Might be helpful to use task scheduler in conjunction with your script too.

 Yes, I'm afraid that the knowledge base is currently only for North America, though we are working on setting it up world wide. I don't know why it's highlighting the academy, but since you can't even see the knowledge base as option there, perhaps some sort of failsafe.... This is what it looks like on my side:
