[St...]
We're trying to ascertain the angle location of some holes on the OD of a large round part. (See attached WORD document that has a sketch.) We have the part aligned, and we have a ZAST XTR indexable head, so probing the holes are no problem. What we haven't figured out is how to get the angle location for the holes from our alignment. (Our alignment has an offset rotation, so we don't want to analyze the hole angle location from other holes, only from our alignment.) Doing a cylinder in the holes seems to merely give us the angle of the hole, not the angle location. (Hope that makes sense.) We also don't need a True Position of the holes, but the angle locations which have +/-0.5 degrees tolerance. I'll check this forum often and hope to hear a solution from one of you fine, experiences Calypso folks. Thank. [Ch...]
Many ways to do what you are requesting. 1.) KB article here : https://portal.zeiss.com/knowledge-base?id=1795659 2.) Change feature to polar/cylindrical instead of X/Y cartesian etc.
[St...]
That article doesn't help. It's for a hole pattern in the face. My holes are on an outside diameter. This doesn't get us there either. (See #1)
[Ch...]
#2 should work : see attached Keep in mind a cylinder can have many angles, one at top, one at bottom, and any number in between. If Angle Value A does not match you can open up the angle format next to it - try unchecking "keep value entered" to make it stick. Good luck !! [Ma...]
Please sign in to view this username. you certainly didn't try them - it doesn't matter where they are. You are just recalling centers of circles. If you are measuring those holes as cylinder, then skip those lines and go right for angle between features OR just report projected angles if your base alignment suits that option. [St...]
Nice! Thanks for not giving up on me. We're going to try this, and we'll probably will have more questions.
[Je...]
in situations like that, I measure the holes as cylinders, to check diameter, angles of the cylinder itself, and other stuff, then intersect them with an theoretical cylinder (or the outer zylinder, if given) in the wanted alignment. To get the angles, I use Result Element with formulas like "deg(getActual("IntD3_2").coordPolAngle)" Edited February
[Cl...]
Jens is on the right track with this strategy.
[Ri...]
You can always create an alignment for each hole location that makes the stylus probe in the axis of the angle.
