[Ja...]
I am looking for tips and suggestions on best practices involved in relocating a CMM; It is a Zeiss contura. It will be transported from a neighboring building. Any suggestions on how to protect the system from damage while in transport? State of the locks on air bearings; Should they be opened to enable them slide freely and use some kind of jigs/brackets to hold the movable parts in place. Lifting places, etc. Any suggestions would be great. Edited February
[No...]
It is absolutely not recommended to transport a bridge CMM without the aid of Zeiss technicians. Proper securing of the portal and ram is a must and the absolute minimum among all the preparations that should be done prior to transport. If Zeiss does the transport, they bring the brackets needed for securing. Maybe you can order the correct brackets yourself if you absolutely want to do it on your own. After moving the CMM a recalibration is necessary.
