how does self probing work ?

Hi,

with calypso 5, and ST3 head :

I try to mesure a point with self centering, to find position of a circle.

to see if it's work i programm a point at 0.5*0.5 from the centre of the circle, to wish caplypso found the centre of the circle, but don't work, have I forget something ?

What means "it does not work"? How it's behaving. From screens it seems you have all done correctly.

On active head you should see probe slide into hole. I don't know how you have set evaluation for point, but make sure you are using plane point.

Without more information I will take a guess and say you forgot to set the Evaluation mode of the points to Mid-Point.

 

If it's anything else, like Touch Point or Plane point, you will get very random results.

 

Edit: Nevermind, You're using an ST3. That head is not capable of Self Centering as it's a touch trigger only.

Martin, sorry for my poor english langage, my test was too program a point at 0.5mm from the centre of the circle to see if calypso find it self the coordonats of the centre.

It 's was a test for a part with a 1mmØ, even with a 0.8mm prob I can't palp it in CNC, but it's not a big deal ,else I will place a cylindrique gage in it and mesure the position of the gage. or mesure the Ø not in CNC but in Manual, don't like it but it's work.

What i meant was how it's not working. Reporting bad position, no self aligning into hole, skipping and so on. Nothing about language ( i think i have many mistakes too )

From pictures of ST-3 i thought it's same as i have on VAST XT - so i presumed it can do self-aligning

ok, so calypso just palp a point a the programmed coordonates, and returns aproximately this coordonnates, but not the coordonates of the centre of the hole wich is at 0.5mm far away. (in the windows parameter, the point is at 0.5*0.5 of the center of the circle witch is at 0*0)
