Master Probe weight.

I keep getting a unknown weight pop-up that will not allow me to use my master probe to reference the sphere location and perform probe calibration.

Perhaps you can try resetting the MasterProbe? I've had this occur a few times as well and I believe this is what I had done to address it. You'll then need to manually touch off your reference sphere at different positions.

Stylus System Management > Locate the MasterProbe > Right click in the white space under "Styli available" > Reset MasterProbe

Hope this helps!

I've seen this before on an XXT? If so, how old is it. The springs might be wearing out from old age.

Springs are probably getting worn out. How old is the XXT? Have you been removing the styli (manually) by pulling straight down? Have there been any recent collisions? If resetting the MasterProbe doesn't fix it (which I doubt honestly, but I have seen stranger things), then I might create a support ticket for the hardware team.

Kyle, Is there a difference between manually pulling the stylus system straight down and the pulling down motion during a cnc stylus change?

You know, I was thinking about that when I was writing that, too, but there must be, if only for like force or something like that. I have always been told to "tilt" the probe off of an XXT rather than pulling because of the damage it can do to the spring.

Hello,

I followed the directions and re-set the master probe. It was a long day of calibrating. Everything worked out except the one probe that we use the most. So, I went back and picked up all of the probes one by one from the rack paying attention to the amount of deflection (spring back). The probe (02) did not defect back like the others. It was seated below the lip of the XXT. I manually took it on an off a few times and each time in seemed to change where it was seated. So, I changed the Carrier, and it looked like the others with similar movement and deflection. I went into qualify the probe and the gosh darn weight is missing again from the master, and I do not want to have to re-qualify everything.

The spring seems fine except when using the original carrier for probe 02.

I apologize for my wording. Is it called a carrier?
