[To...]
I have a part with a .030 deep groove around the periphery. There is a general note that all features to be .010 surface profile to A and B. A is the end face and B is the ID. This means everything has to be tied together using Simultaneous Requirement. No problem so far. For the .030 deep groove, I have taken 20 points all around the part. However, I can't find a feature where I can use these points in order to do a profile with and take advantage of the SIMREQ. I was thinking a curve, but I am having trouble creating the curve and using the points. Unfortunately, the Beta Line Profile won't let me select SIMREQ on a curve. So, I'm thinking about creating a 3d best fit alignment with the 20 points, allowing rotation about the B axis, then falling back to a non-beta Line Profile but I'm stuck on creating the curve. I feel the tolerance is loose enough that it will still pass even though it's not tied to the SIMREQ....
[Ma...]
Unless there is specific callout to use SIMREQ, then it should not apply. If model is as nominal states, then use free form. It can have allowed rotation, since i don't see any clocked feature. Edit: i got outdated about SIMREQ - but it should work with FF https://www.school-mechademic.com/blog/simultaneous-requirements-in-gd-t-what-are-they Edited April 2 simreq
[To...]
The ASME standard says if any characteristics share the same exact DRF, the default is SIMREQ. The drawing can state SEP REQT for items that do not need to be included. You cannot use a freeform surface with the new BETA system. I hear it's coming soon. [Ma...]
But it would perform alignment with bestfit to be then used on TP and so on.
