Calibration issues

I have an Accura with a VAST XTR head and westartibg having an issue with one of our probes not calibrating within our less than 1 micron stdev. It is a 90 degree 4mm ruby 150mm long. All other probes have no issues so I built a new probe file, replaced probe and adapter plate, but no luck. I have a handful of news probes not qualifying under 15 microns

Is the stylus itself 150 mm long, or does this include an extension. Unfortunately, if it is a very long stylus, it might just be too bendy to actually qualify below the 1 micron threshold. I was working with a stylus a couple of months ago now that was a bit smaller and I think a bit shorter (I can't remember exactly how much) and I wasn't able to get it to qualify below like 2 microns. Hopefully it isn't giving you 15 microns. That sounds a bit excessive, but I don't have the stylus in front of me, obviously.

If you can, I would try to replace at least some of the length of the stylus with an extension. Extensions tend to be much more rigid have a smaller effect on the qualification, but if not, sometimes you do need to just live with the larger sigma if there is no way around it. It is an increase in your uncertainty, but if you can't measure it any other way, there isn't really much you can do.

I had this problem in the past where the probe was too bendy as Kyle says.  I turned the probing behavior to sensitive and also turned down the probing dynamic in %.  This seemed to help but it was never as accurate as some of my more rigid setups.
