Surface Profile Type-2 Gauge R&R

We ran Type-2 GRR (10 parts. 2 operators, 2 runs each). The QE has the data.

The dimension in question is a surface profile of an ID pocket. (Profile .003 U .000 A)

The total tolerance is .003. The QE is telling me that he applied .006 when he ran the

study in Minitab. I understand that its's .003 per side, but the total tolerance is still .003.

So my question is. Am I wrong?

Your interpretation is correct.  For the unequally disposed profile control you described, the total width of the tolerance band is .003.

The QE set the characteristic up in Minitab as though it were a standard bilateral profile, which is incorrect.
