XXT PROBE SETTINGS

What does changing these settings do? Also, what does changing the force and dynamic do?

Probing Behavior Deflection Values:
Sensitive: 100 μm
Standard: 150μm
Robust: 200μm

I seem to get this error often "The sensor did not carry out the measurement with the expected measuring force", what does it mean?

The error means that the sensor couldn't keep the intended measuring force because of a large form error or displacement (or both) of the scanned fetaure. A standard VAST head can follow such unexpected deviations by actively deflecting the stylus. The XXT can not do that and has to rely on the machine axes instead. But they are much more inert, so if scanning speed is too high the stylus may (actually or almost) lose contact to the workpiece. The only cure is to reduce scanning speed or - in case of displacement - use some kind of relative measurement (e.g. "own geometry") to optimize the scanning path.
