XXT PROBE SETTINGS

What does changing these settings do? Also, what does changing the force and dynamic do?

Probing Behavior Deflection Values:
Sensitive: 100 μm
Standard: 150μm
Robust: 200μm

I seem to get this error often "The sensor did not carry out the measurement with the expected measuring force", what does it mean?

Standard presetting:

The recommended presetting for the deflection is »Standard«, selectable
in the CALYPSO measuring software. With this setting, the probe deflection
during measurement value recording is 0.15 mm, this value is independent
of the stylus length.

Modes for critical application cases:

Sensitive: Small deflection, for example for soft workpieces or
low scanning speed.

Robust: High deflection, for example for rough workpieces.

The XXT is a passive sensor and relies on a certain amount of deflection.  Standard is 150um, Sensitive is 100um and Robust is 200um.  If the feature you are scanning has high form or location error, the sensor is not able to maintain its given deflection amount which causes the sensor to report the "air scanning" message.  Scanning Optimization will re-measure the feature based on the data it was able to collect but at a slower speed.  Doesn't apply to lines or planes.

You can turn the Scanning Optimization off in the resources, compatibility settings but there is an increased risk of incorrect results and repeatability is most likely compromised.

You posted your answer while I was creating a similar answer.  Was going to look like I didn't read your post before posting myself....lol

If you use sensitive or robust will it change measurement results? Does the probe need to be calibrated with these setting? Or is it ok if it’s calibrated using standard

It qualifies with all three settings during the Passive Qualification. Changing the setting during qualification just changes the default behaviour.
