[Tr...]
Hello, We have some programs we run on a VAST XXT Gold sensor head with the VAST MT head plates that have zero issues but when attempting to run the same programs on a VAST XTR Gold sensor also with VAST MT head plates there is occasions that the probes want to "tap" the part in any direction of the star that the only way to prevent this for us is to add more to the "Search Distance before nominal" positioning. We have not quite had the luck to find a more suitable answer for this other than its "just a weird thing the XTR is different in". Does anyone have any insight on the reasoning this occurs? Thanks in advance.
[Je...]
The behavior should be exactly the same from sensor to sensor (I assume you are actually referring to a VAST XT GOLD, XXT is a passive sensor). If the programs are being run exactly the same, on the same machine, with the same styli (and properly qualified) The only difference that comes to mind is if you set your machine tab differently for that sensor with a different "diameter". This is a clearance setting for the sensor itself and being unaware of a larger or smaller than normal value will make some navigation issues look very random or unpredictable. [Tr...]
Jeff, Yes. That is my fault on a typo. We utilize both the XTR heads and the XT heads on our system. Would I need to do the drop down for each of them? Could they potentially be set differently? This is a CMM that was set up prior to me starting here it's just something I've noticed only happens with our XTR equipped machine so I have thought it would be a setting somewhere that we just have not found as of yet. [Ke...]
In addition to those drop downs, I would check the settings in your program. It sounds like you could potentially have a program that is using DEFAULT for clearance and retract distance moves, and that default may have been set differently between machines
