Touch Cylinder position check

Hello!

I would like to evaluate the position of a touch cylinder, but the software does not offer it.

It offers it at the circle. Is there a way to somehow request it at the cylinder?

I have never used a touch cylinder, but I just verified you cannot get the position on it. I also created a line from both end points and you cannot get a position on that either.

You would need to create both end points and then you can do a position check from both end points and technically use the worst point as the value. You could put both values in a user defined check and report the max value using the max command. Something like 'max(A.actual_value, B.actual_value)'  or just report both end point checks as two separate checks.

If you want to be generous you could report the mid-point instead of both end points.

GD&T in ZI is limited to fitting elements. The one and only exception are elements that provides a special point (like points, circles etc.). To get an result from a touch cylinder I would suggest the following workflow

  1. Create at least 2 points from the line (e.g. using the function point from line); if you like to have more points in your deviation plot you can add additional points using the function "create division point"
  2. Create a fitting line from these points (for this purpose select all points in the element explorer and choose select all points from element)
  3. Use this fitting line to get your position tolerance

Hope this helps.
