[Co...]
I just updated the calypso software to 2024 Calypso 7.8 and noticed that the "Custom Report" option is gone. And even on the existing programs I have the results no longer format correctly within the boxes of the report. Does anyone know of any work arounds for this? Or is this Zeiss' way of trying to force everyone to spend the ~$15,000 on their PiWeb reporting software?

[An...]
Unless their sales strategy has changed recently, you should have access to PiWeb Reporting Plus with your CALYPSO seat. I don't remember the last time I saw a CALYPSO seat without it, actually. $15k is in line with what I would expect for PiWeb SBS (I think they call it Essentials now) and probably not what you're looking for in this instance. If the machine is from a time when PiWeb Plus wasn't included, upgrading the Calypso software does not include PiWeb.
[Ri...]
I believe that is true, but doesn't that just limit the data storage side? You still have PiWeb Reporting.
[Ky...]
Point 1, I believe we officially got rid of the custom report in like Calypso 7.2 or something like that. The fact that we were going to stop support for it has been related in the release information for Calypso since 6.2, though. Point 2, there are several different versions of PiWeb, namely PiWeb Reporting, PiWeb Reporting Plus, PiWeb Essentials and PiWeb Enterprise. The last two are generally for storing and reporting data from several different machines into 1 location, while the first 2 are mostly for just reporting the data from 1 CMM. Calypso automatically comes with PiWeb Reporting, which if you just want to see your report at the end in a form similar to your custom report and save it, should be all you need (and you don't even need to do anything really for new programs except perhaps turn on the saving for PDF files). PiWeb Reporting Plus allows for storing more data and processing SPC data, and is an additional license (I don't remember how much it is).

There's even an official workaround, but Zeiss seems hesitant to communicate it openly : Go to compatibility settings and switch on the old custom report templates. I don't remember the correct name in English, but it's the second or third one from below. If you also need the old graphics element for roundness plots etc. and have swapped computers in the update process, you also need to (re-)install the basic reporter from the installer package once.
[Ja...]
Please sign in to view this quote. On newer programs I have done what Norbert has suggested to keep our reports mostly uniform and it works well enough. That said we haven't upgraded our Calypso past 7.2.04, the 2021 Service Pack 1, even though we pay for the SMA that includes the yearly upgrades specifically because we don't want to lose our custom reports. I believe the version we are currently on is the first version to lose custom reports as a default option as Kyle stated above and we are hesitant to upgrade any further at the risk of losing our preferred reporting completely but it is good to know that on more recent versions the option is still hidden away somewhere. The reasons we run custom reports still is that the majority of our programs were created prior to them being phased out and I have been directed by those above me (company ownership at the highest levels) to keep report layouts the same as that is what all the guys on the floor are used to seeing, our customers are used to seeing, and different report layouts would require us to update all of our work instructions, which would be a substantial task with no value added for us. I dread the day that Zeiss cuts out the backdoor to being able to use custom reports because it will be a substantial hassle for us. I understand the strengths of PiWeb reporting and how robust it can be and do use it for other purposes but it still rubs me the wrong way, even with all of the notice given, that Custom Reports were phased out as an easily accessible option when there was so much pushback in these very forums against it. Anyway, rant over, change comes for us all eventually and I suppose Calypso is no different and you try to do the best work you can with the tools available. [No...]
While I can't guarantee it for obvious reasons, past experience tells me that if they included a compatibility option for the custom reports, that feature won't go away in future versions. There's some quite antique stuff in Calypso that is still there (if you know how to "look behind the curtain"), I think this one will be no different. [Th...]
That picture matches what Norbert was talking about earlier, but what is happening with that URL? The displayed text doesn't match the actual hyperlink, it's a bare IP address and my web browser wasn't happy about it.
