[Vi...]
How to reduce large CAD size file in calypso.
[Je...]
Please sign in to view this username. I'm not aware of a direct file size reduction function in Calypso. However, here are a few tips to make a large, complicated CAD model more digestible: If you are working with a multi-body CAD file, use the "Automatic Healing" functions, especially the "stitching" option. Keep in mind that this will fuse all of the CAD bodies together, so subsequent selection and editing happens through line and surface selection only. Also, if there are components in your CAD file that are non-essential to your measurement tasks, delete them either inside Calypso or before import. Consider, however, whether doing so will affect navigation or evaluation of your features of interest. Calypso tends to handle ACIS files (.sat, .sab) best, so if you are importing a .stp or other CAD type, consider converting it to ACIS. The resources in the computer that is hosting Calypso is a huge factor regarding how fluidly 3D files are accommodated. A few years ago, I incorrectly perceived Calypso as a mediocre software for handling CAD. This assumption was proven false when we upgraded the computer computers. Calypso is a wizard at managing 3D in various formats, and it's obvious that development work has been invested in this endeavor. Good Luck. Keep us posted in how this situation turns out for you.
[Ke...]
If the CAD model is that large, your best bet is likely to talk to the CAD designer to reduce size, see if they did things like modelling threads, or if they have unintentionally layered multiples of parts, or even if they can remove portions of the model that are not needed for CMM programming (such as components inside a sealed housing, for example)
[Ch...]
if you use NX, try "Simplify assembly"; this is what I use. There are settings for keeping internals < a certain size, etc. This will kind of heal/merge things and you may not be able to edit bodies individually. Has worked well for me though.
[Vi...]
I removed layered of multiple stocks in NX and now size reduced up to 30 MB .
