[Te...]
So, I don't know if anyone else is running Windows 10 on their CMM, but I'm having difficulty updating to Windows 11. I checked my PC, and it can get the update with the minimum requirements, but when I go to update Windows in the settings, no Windows 11 option comes up. I contacted Zeiss, and their IT department said I need to install a new workstation(new PC) with Windows 11. That's crazy because this computer is only 1 year old, and nothing is wrong with it. Why would I spend thousands of dollars on an operating system that you can upgrade for free?
[Je...]
Hello Terry, 1 - The workstation you are using (assuming it is the same 5820 XL unit that came with your DURAMAX CMM 2 years ago) is likely Windows 11 compliant. 2 - You must confirm your workstation is capable of meeting the hardware requirements for Windows 11. Some ZEISS CMM workstation versions were not compliant with the Windows 11 TPM2.0 requirement until a few years ago. Boot to BIOS to ensure you have TPM2.0 on your mo-bo to be sure. A DELL shipped post 2021 should have this but please check. 3 - If this is indeed the workstation purchased from ZEISS then it came with a Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC build. LTSC licenses are version specific and not "update-able". If you wish to update to Windows 11 you much purchase your own license. This is not a "free upgrade" version. 4 - The Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC build shipped with ZEISS workstations has Microsoft extended support until 2032. If you are going to update to Windows 11, please review the release notes for the specific version of CALYPSO you are going to be utilizing to ensure the build you are upgrading to is a supported version (please refer for specific builds but generally "Pro" or higher is supported on Win11 compliant versions post-2023 . "Home" is not supported in any version due to SQL requirements) Brief version support docs can be found here as well: ZEISS Portal
