Co-Planar Datums

So, I have a situation where a customer has a part that calls out a true position using A & B together. FCF reads pos.|ØX.XX|A-B|C|. How do I program a characteristic that uses both datum planes as a single datum?

If you have the new GD&T engine, you can do Common Datums. Otherwise, in this case, I'd probably just use a Symmetry Plane (not Symmetry).

I do not have teh new GD&T engine, unfortunately. I will use the Symmetry Plane option. Thanks for your help clarifying it.

wouldn't be there any problems within symmetry plane when uneven number of points and location? I always used that sym plane with same opposing points.

I was unaware of those issues, but if that is a known issue, then I wouldn't recommend it then. Lol. You could either then use Symmetry from each individual plane, or you could leverage Free-Form.

I am not sure if there are any problems, so i asked. I think i need some testing - i hope i'll find some time for that 🙂

You are right, when talking about the two-point-distance. LSQ and (in this case) Maximum Inscribed Element should work.
