Low quality of triple scan points error

Hello, I am having the "Low quality of triple scan points" error appear in each and every shot that is taken using my 200mm measuring volume lenses on my Scan Box 5108. Rev 04 that we have been using since 2018. We typically use the 120mm measuring volume and we are using frames that were purchased with the system, for both measuring volumes. When I use the smaller volume, I hardly ever see this error but since I have switched to the larger measuring volume I'm seeing this error frequently. I have read quite a few topics in this forum but could not find anything that has fixed my issue.

What I have done so far is, ran the calibration routine several times, I went through the Set Up process a couple of times, on my second set up I even checked my focus on all 3 lenses (Right, Left and Projector) and there was no adjustment required even though I did move the focus ring and I could not get any better values, I also switched out my holding fixture since it did seem a bit shiny compared to the frame, I have taken shots of just the frame to eliminate any reflectivity of the part I am trying to scan and I'm still seeing the error. I have tried different angles to reduce any reflectivity and that did not solve my issue. I did see this issue at the end of last week, so I switched the system back to the 120mm measuring volume and the system seemed to run fine without the "Low quality of triple scan points" error.

Where am I going wrong with my issue? Are there any other things I can try?

Thank you for your insights in advance

I also see this error much more frequently lately, though not as often as you. For me it mostly happens when the sensor is tilted to steep angles. I suspected that worn reference marks on our rotary table could have something to do with it, but didn't have the time yet to prove it. Are the reference marks on your frames permanent (printed or ceramic) or are you using simple paper marks?

Hello Shawn,

can you post a screenshot of one of the bad measurements and its properties? This indicated reflections/noise as you already meantioned (does is also appear on sprayed parts?). Does this also appear when scanning for example a white paper without any reflective parts visible in the scan?

Best regards,

Jens Braun

We are using "0.8mm uncoded white high and temperature stable" reference points purchased from Zeiss, the box has a date on the box of 02/03/2025
