Good morning all,

An inspector came to me with an error appearing on a report. see the attached snippet.

Taking a look at the feature, I do not see anything out of the ordinary. The cookbook settings are being followed.

Appreciate any insight.

IDK, but have you tried recalling the points into a circle?...maybe the cylinder is so short that it is having trouble calculating?

All best fit algorithms need a starting point for the iterative calculation. Back in UMESS times operators were advised to first touch 3 points on a circle and the fourth one in a different height. UMESS would use those to caculate a rough estimate of the cylinder's position and orientation and use that as the starting value for calculation.

Calypso with its circle and line strategies must have different, more sophisticated ways of determining a first position of a cylinder. But as you can see, even these can sometimes fail. And that is what this error message is telling you. I also think that the shortness of the cylinder may be the reason.
