[Ko...]
Hello everyone, I need your help in order to measure the length of the side of the cone with the CMM. I received a new drawing from the customer and there is a 0.5mm length call out which is from the intersection of the through hole and a 90° angle to the intersection of the 120° angle and the 90° angle as you can see on the drawing. Thank you in advance
[Cl...]
There are a few ways to do this. One would be to probe three lines (One on each angled surface) and intersect them. For example. Probe a 2d line on top of the left cylinder. Probe the second line up the short surface of the 60° surface. Probe the third line up the 45° surface. Intersect the first line with second and the second with third. Create a local alignment using the first intersection (XYZ origin) Use the second intersection as the planar rotation. Now do a point-to-point distance referencing that local alignment.
[Ry...]
You can also create a cylinder and 2 cones on the 45° & 60° surface. pull the cylinder and 45° cone into an intersection & make sure the "shell" checkbox is selected on for both. Do the same with the 45° cone and the 60° cone. You will now have 2 circles that you can grab a distance with.
[Ko...]
Thank you Clarke for your assistance. I created the lines and the intersection points. For measuring the length I used the polar distance using the 45° angle as my primary datum. I do not have parts to measure yet but it seems that it will work. Thanks again
[Ko...]
Please sign in to view this quote. Hello Ryan and thank you for taking the time to review and replay to my question. I have created the intersections but I am not sure how I can check the distance which is oriented at an angle. Could you please help me on this? Thanks
