Hello,

I programmed a freeform but I forgot to make a Best Fit. The workpiece is not there anymore. Is it possible to make a Best Fit with the existing data ?

If yes, can anybody explain to me how to do it  ?

Thanks

You need to have actuals of that part ( saved or last measured actuals).

In what way you want that bestfit? Profile callout without alignment or use bestfit as alignment?

I am very new to Calypso: What do you mean with "Profile callout without alignment or use bestfit as alignment ?"

I measured a milled ball. The ball is not perfect so I thought to make a best fit of all measuring points so that the deviations in summary are in a minimum. I want a protocol with better values. I do not need a new zero point for further measurings.

Do you want a one number or list for every touched point?

You can do this to obtain one number - or you can enable graphical view and see deviations in CAD window ( i preffer cylinders )

We should not talk about a sphere specific. It is only a sample contour to describe the problem. It can also be a mould for a telephone or an electrode for a car lamp. In history the measurement was made with Holos. And if I am right there a second measurement was not necessary to make a bestfit.

I am dealing with forged parts, where is sometimes missing a material ( due residue in die or material didn't fill whole place ) and i am trying to measure how much is missing.

What i found as working approach was using a model, where i use free form feature with path from 4 points. Then i use 3D curve and recall FF into curve with recalculation so i get nominals from path in FF.

Then i make alignment from curve which is used for calculatin profile.

In your case you can select no Datum reference Frame ( default is used features alignment or base alignment ) - this will give you bestfit for FF with fitting + and - deviations.
