My company wants to take away admin rights from all pc's. I told them that the Calypso software needs admin rights to function properly. But that's not a good enough answer for them.

1. Am I wrong?

2. If not, Can anyone give a detailed explanation why and what it needs the rights for? (certain apps like Excel)

Thanks!

I believe Calypso don't need admin rights - at least user on this PC has no admin rights.

It's needed only for instalation.

Calypso only requires admin rights to install updates, we have had no issues running everything as a local user.

No admin other than install needed.

The computer account will need read and write permission to any folder where the programs, actual points, and results are saved.  If it is all saved locally in the default paths then there is probably not an issue but if your programs are on a network then removing admin accounts from the computer could impact that.

I once had a great migration of programs to a new folder system and guess who's thousands of programs stopped working because the folder's permissions were set to read access only.

Hi Patricia,

Please show your IT department this linked article. It discusses all of the file paths, ports, executables, etc... that must be whitelisted from IT security. General admin privileges are not needed for CALYPSO functionality as long as this article is fully addressed.
