Calypso to 1-Factory

Anyone using 1-Factory?  Curious about your thoughts on it?

It appears to be a useful tool, but it will require significant adjustments to our existing naming convention, which is currently used across all, you know, hundreds of CMM programs. A few extra scripts have been required to get the reports to upload to the 1Factory software successfully. I feel like I may be missing something within Calypso that could solve that issue.

The IT department keeps telling us that Windows has been trying to make Macros a thing of the past.  Using the "Excel Report" output below (believed to be required for 1-factory) is very macro-heavy.

Does anyone have any experience with outputting measurement results from Calypso to 1Factory?

Can you be more specific about what you are trying to accomplish with your file naming (and re-naming) convention? Also, are you saying you want the XLS files generated by Calypso to be saved as XLSX files for 1 Formula? Any additional information would be very helpful in directing you down a specific path that makes sense for whatever you are trying to accomplish.

I am interested in this topic.

At this time, my company is manually importing the Excel files into 1 factory. This was set up by my predecessor, so I was not originally involved.

I have heard that there is a way to have 1-factory auto import, but I have not gone down that rabbit hole yet.

1 factory is ok, it has got its pros/cons, and they are adding new features every few months, so that is nice to see. At this point, it is working for us, and I have no major complaints.

this link should help you get started with the auto-upload to the CMM.

2. Auto Upload CMM Files (Automated File Upload) – 1factory, Inc.

What we have found is that we needed to add to the 1factory script: first to close the Excel report template that Calypso opens when the measurement is complete, then move that Excel report from the results file to the "in" folder (created for 1 factory).  We also had to add a formula to the "Characteristics.xlt" file to rename the measurement plan field to add the inspection type to the measurement plan name (required for 1 factory).

We currently have it functioning; however, with my limited experience in adjusting report header variables and Excel outputs, it took a lot of trial and error.  Particularly with using the characteristics.xlt output and the ReportINI.xlt file.   Then throw into the mix the Windows permissions that the IT department sets, and it was all hands-on deck to get the PowerShell scripts to function.

right now we have a script that moves our excel/pdf/point files to a network drive.

It sounds like this could be an issue. Does the Excel file disappear? Other departments utilize these files.

Using the script you could copy the excel file instead of cut it out of the results folder.   The 1 factory script does paste each excel file into a folder labeled "out", so it is still accessible there as well.

Do you use "report_end.bat" to accomplish this? or another execution method?

We are using another vba script that our IT department came up with.  If i had more knowledge with .bat files im sure it could be done that way as well.
