[Ch...]
Good morning, all. I haven't used Calypso in many years & the new company I work for just purchased a new O-Inspect. I'm wondering ... is it possible to put some kind of manual data entry item in the characteristics column for PiWeb to report? All of the assemblies we measure have unique tracked serial numbers and I would like to have the SN saved on the reports. Is that possible? I also stumbled across the "code scanning" characteristic. Occasionally, the barcode or QR would be visible to the optical system? Would it be possible to have that scanned/recognized to input the SN in the report? Oops ... For some reason this posting ended up in "Zeiss Gear Pro". Is there a way to change what category it fall under? [An...]
The easiest way to include the SN is to use the report header parameters. With the Measurement Plan in question open, Go to Multiple Report and click "Select report header parameters". In the new window that pops up, select the variable that you want to use to store the Serial Number. There isn't a predefined "Serial Number" variable. I'll describe the process to add a new variable in a follow up response. If you do not want to add a new variable, I have seen some people use the "Incremental Part Number" variable to store the Serial Number. I will use it for the purposes of this post, but be aware that it is not the only option. Select the checkbox under "Run" next to the variable you want to include. Go to Resources -> Report Header Parameters and click the check box labeled "Force Input at start". This is optional but I include it in most of my programs because it minimizes the chances of an operator forgetting to add the information. Now when you run the Measurement Plan, you will be prompted to enter values for the variables you selected earlier. This value will be included in the database for that measurement. If you create a new variable, you'll need to modify the report to include that new variable. As to your second question, I believe that it should be possible. I cannot test it as I do not have a part with a barcode or QR code, but it appears that that the workflow is something like this. Add an image acquisition feature and export it as a Code Scanning characteristic. In the Code Scanning characteristic, select the "Fill report header variable checkbox" and then select the desired variable. I'll again use Incremental Part Number. Again, I'm just assuming this is how it would work. If someone who does this on a regular basis could chime in, that would be best.
