Calypso Revision Control

Hello All,

 

Looking for some insight if anyone is using Zeiss Calypso's internal revisioning control. What do you see as the pro's/con's with it? We have recently locked our CMM's with user profiles for everyone but are looking to dive a bit further and force revision history of programs. 

 

Currently we "revision control" with resaving the program and have the revision at the end of the program name (ex. ".1" or ".2" etc.) and moving the old version to an obsolete file. We are finding changes are still being made and this process not being followed. 

 

So, I am looking for how any of you handle revisions between several users and also if you utilize the revisioning control Calypso offers and your thoughts.

Wow, I did not know this exists. I wonder if its possible to limit who can change revisions in the program. For example User1, User2 can only open the latest revision and not change anything and Master1, Master2 can do whatever they want, rollback to previous rev. or something.

These are user privileges for CALYPSO as a whole, not just within Measurement Plan Revisioning. but these settings can limit which users are allowed to change a measurement plan.

This is exactly what I am referring to. I've read that portal a few times and we have discussed it internally to move towards this direction, but we are wanting to do our research on it prior. So, I figured I would come to the forum where we have hundreds of people who are active and hope to get some feedback and different views of what you guys currently are using for a program revision control inside of Calypso or if you are using Calypso's built in one and your opinions.

 

We are also branching the idea of utilizing the digital signatures inside of Calypso as well to further this process and have a 4-eye(two person) verification on new programs, but we are just taking one step at a time for now since our industry is rapidly changing and meeting ISO, AS13000, etc. requirements along with customer requirements on control.
