Base alignment match help

I have not used Base Alignment Match before. I have a part that is 120" and my table is 60". I have looked up how to use it and i found a programmer that explained how. So i went in and set up my initial Base Alignment for the first part. I then went and ran the alignment. I picked up all my features as it said to do, i projected points on the features that i was going to use for the Base Alignment Match. I then made all my Characteristics like it instructed me to do. Then i went and selected Base Alignment Match placing it after the beginning of my first run  characteristics. I then went and opened the Base Alignment Match and selected the points that i made. I actually have to move this part two times so i have two Base Alignment Match. I start the program and it runs fine. It gets to the first Base Alignment Match and instructs me to manually probe the points which i do. I then click the accept on the pop up window and it takes off to pick up the first point and it goes above the part +Z not even close to the point taken. Information on this will be much appreciated. If there is another way to program this that would be great too! Thank you.

I have not used base alignment match before. I would double check everything in that first alignment match the same way I would check to see what's not right with a base alignment. If you turn on "show probing object", it might give you a clue as to what's wrong with the alignment.

What do you mean by "i projected points on the features that i was going to use for the Base Alignment Match."

I don’t know what feature types you are using  but I would intersected points on a surface, I.e, cylinder intersected to a plane. Unless you remeasure the surface you are projecting to then you may have an issue. I believe your process is right but try a different way to construct those points.

I have a Z plane X and Y plane. These points from these features are exactly how my original alignment is and i chose these points exactly in order in the Base Alignment match. I recalled these planes to make points because the Base Alignment Match does not accept planes only circles and points. I then chose these points for the Alignment.

I am recalling the points to the surface of the planes i created. When the manual probing comes up it says to take the features as i do all three planes. It is getting lost at this point when i finish probing the features. The only thing i can think of is my Z plane that is below my other plane/point features taken it gets lost? It searches for and errors out.

I am sorry i should've included this to show how i am working with this. The Plane 35, i then recalled the plane to make Point 16, Plane 14 i then recalled the Plane to make Point 4 and the Plane 12 i recalled and made Point 3. In my Base Alignment match i chose them in this order of Point 4, Point 16 and Point 3. I made sure that these features are part of the first part of program that it picks up. So i am measuring these twice because the CMM already knows where these features are that i made for the Base Alignment Match. This is what is confusing me because it already gave me dimensions for these.

I think, that only three point won't be enough - at least 5 i would pick. 2 points for Plane35 ( one for each plane ) - same for Plane12 and so on.

RPS will use 6 points - so maybe here too. It's quite bad, that you can use only points and circles ( sometimes spheres )
Perhaps intersections of planes would work too.

The Base Alignment Match, after i put all the characteristics from original alignment like it says and select the Base Alignment match. Am i confusing myself here? Do i put the beginning Base Alignment points in the Base Alignment Match or do i put my second alignment points in the first Base Alignment Match. I hope i am not confusing myself or way over thinking this?
